Balloon Evening

Party in the Pink
We raised £7,000 to be split between Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Welch Almshous in an event attended by 140 in the beautiful marquee kindly lent by Nick and Romy. The evening culminated in dancing to Chris Jagger’s band.

Harvest Supper

Nick and Romy hosted an al fresco supper for 50. Food was from the village, as was the entertainment, laid on by Gabriel, Ronan, and John Staib.

Cider Making
Around 30 volunteers turned up on the morning of Apple Day in October to pick apples in Montgomery Farm’s orchard. We picked short of 3 tonnes of traditional local varietes, which we took to Hecks’s in Street for pressing. The cider will be available in 2007 as either flat farmhouse, sold by the gallon, or carbonated in bottles.

Fireworks
The annual fireworks display went off without incident (!). It was as usual well supported, and thanks for its success are due particularly to the Stones for organizing the pyrotechnics, to Ern for the use of his field, and all those on catering duty.

Christmas Party
We were lucky enough to have Father Christmas attend the Christmas party again this year – thanks Santa – and a veritable press of people enjoyed mulled wine and eats in the village hall.

Carol Singing
Thanks to all who turned out – and particularly to Chris Hibell – and to those who laid on drinks and food as we made our way around the village. We raised £139 for St. Margaret’s Hospice.
