Lamyatt’s former village school now serves as the Village Hall, managed by a voluntary committee which organises events throughout the year, including an Easter Egg Hunt and egg rolling down Portway Hill, and a range of professional, ticketed live music, theatre, and arts performances, some supported by Take Art. The Hall hosts Film screenings – often with supper -several times during the winter period. National Theatre Live screenings also regularly take place. There is a regular pub night held approximately once a month. Details of events are shared on posters, the village website, the notice board by the telephone box, and via the village email system. The refurbished Hall is also used for Pilates classes, monthly coffee mornings, and houses a defibrillator on its exterior wall. The old BT telephone box, adopted by the village, has been restored and converted into a village book exchange.
Lamyatt has two Almshouses, managed by local trustees under the Welch Almshouse Charity founded in 1916, providing accommodation for eligible residents. From 2008 to 2018, the community ran a cider co-operative producing Bullbeggar Cider from local apples, with profits supporting the Church and Village Hall. Since 1 April 2023, Lamyatt Parish has been part of Somerset Council (formerly Mendip and Somerset County), with Paul Chadwick serving as Parish Meeting Representative (07761 967075). The Lamyatt Matters page provides contact details for reporting local issues and information on parish meetings, including the Annual Parish Meeting each May, where reports from the Church Council, Village Hall Trust, and Welch Almshouse Charity are presented.
